How to live stream on Instagram with a Guest

In this video, the StreamGeeks break down live streaming on Instagram with the latest feature for inviting a guest. We take you step by step through the process of live streaming on Instagram and using the new split screen feature. If you are not seeing the ability to invite live guests to join your broadcast you will want to update your Instagram app. Once your Instagram is fully updated you can invite guests viewing your live stream to join the broadcast in a split screen layout.

Starting your Instagram Live Stream

Here is the step by step process:

  1. Click on the Instagram Home Screen in your smartphone App
  2. Click on the camera icon on the top of your Instagram App
  3. Slide the bottom mode selector to “live” and tap the center button
  4. Click Start Live Broadcast

Inviting a Guest into your broadcast

Once you have started your broadcast you can invite guests who are watching live to join your broadcast. Therefore if you want to have a planned guest come onto your Instagram account you have to make sure they are waiting for you to go live and are watching your broadcast. At this time you can only invite Instagram members who are currently watching you live broadcast.

Final Step
Complete!

Live streaming has quickly become a social media phenomenon on both Facebook and Instagram in 2017.
