Let’s kick off the summer with some amazing new live streaming tech!

Hello StreamGeeks community,

As we dive into the summer months, we’re excited to share the latest developments and insights from the world of remote production. Our team has been busy exploring new technologies, attending industry events, and gathering valuable feedback from you, our dedicated community. Here’s what we have in store for you this June.

InfoComm is the biggest ProAV event in the USA.

InfoComm is the biggest ProAV event in the USA.

The InfoComm 2024 show in Las Vegas is just around the corner, and we’re gearing up for an incredible event! From June 10-15, our team will be in Las Vegas, and we would love to grab a coffee or meet up on the showroom floor.

What I’m excited about at InfoComm:

The Grateful Dead: I cannot wait to see the Grateful Dead play at the Las Vegas Sphere. The Dead are playing every night of InfoComm!

Live Streaming Panel: Join me for a panel on building live streaming systems with experts Alesia Hendley , Rebecca Sullins and Jim Bask. This session, “Designing for High Quality Streaming,” will take place on Wednesday, June 12, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It’s always a packed session, and this year promises even more insights as ProAV professionals continue to advance in live streaming and video production.

Networking: I’m looking forward to meeting you all! Please send me an email at [email protected]to schedule a meeting. The industry is changing, and I’m positive we can work together to build business opportunities that take advantage of these new technology trends emerging at NAB and InfoComm.

Going All-In on Remote Production

At PTZOptics, we’re fully committed to enhancing remote production capabilities. We recently launched RemoteProduction.com, and we plan to leverage this website to generate leads for our channel partners. If you offer remote production services, let me know so I can add you to partner map. This summer, we’re excited to announce that all PTZOptics cameras will include free access to PTZOptics Hive. The free plan allows customers to remotely control their PTZ cameras from anywhere in the world and includes 5 hours of cloud usage (and unlimited local usage). This move aims to make remote production more accessible and seamless for all users.

Spotlight on Presonus: Leading the Way in Remote Audio Mixing

We’ve been incredibly impressed with Presonusand their innovative approach to remote audio mixing. They’ve integrated remote audio mixing technology directly into all their Studio Live audio mixers. Our initial set up was easy and secure; creating My Presonus accounts and sending invitations to our team members streamlined the process.

Even though our team was in the same building we are on separate networks and the remote audio mixing technology worked flawlessly. This experience has been a real eye-opener and a testament to how well-designed remote solutions can transform production workflows.

Office Hours: A Community of Collaboration

Office Hours continues to be a shining example of what’s possible with remote production. The team extensively uses Zoom for their video production, utilizing shared Zoom accounts in creative ways. They prepare guests in breakout rooms before transitioning them to the main broadcast room, which is hosted in a professional 1080p Zoom meeting.

The camaraderie in Office Hours is truly inspiring. A powerful moment for me was meeting CJ Covell, one of the weekly hosts of Office Hours, who lives just a few miles away from our office. We went from a dynamic online interview to walking around our office in real life, showcasing the potential of IRL (In Real Life) experiences that start online. It was an amazing experience, to go from meeting online, to meeting in person in just a few short hours.

My favorite part of this live stream, was watching 10 unique production experts all working together in a single studio. We had five PTZ cameras connected to Hive and twice as many people, all working together in the same real-time production environment in the cloud. As we move into our BETA phase of Hive, I’m proud to say the Office Hours team was hammer away at the functionality without any issues!

Live Quilting: Who would have thought it would be so interesting!

We hosted a live quilting session with Selina Toedter, showcasing how remote production can bring niche hobbies to a global audience. Using PTZOptics cameras and the Hive, we seamlessly switched between camera angles and interacted with viewers in real-time. Give our audience PTZ camera controls was a blast, if you haven’t joined one of our remote PTZ camera control sessions you must try it out. Being a remote PTZ camera operator during a live event is exhilarating.

Remote Production of a Live Band: Bringing Music to Life

We recently produced a live stream for a four-person band, again with an attempt to use as much remote production technology as possible. We used multiple PTZOptics cameras and Presonus’ remote audio mixing technology together in our most complete remote production to date. It was really incredible, to remotely mix all the audio sources and operate the cameras, all from a simple low-bandwidth web-interface.

These examples demonstrate our commitment to going live, testing new workflows, and sharing our insights with you. Stay tuned for more innovative remote production projects!
