Business Improvement District uses live streaming to spread awareness for downtown small businesses
Written by Paul Richards on March 25, 2018
The West Chester Business Improvement District (BID) has partnered with the StreamGeeks to provide live streaming services to small businesses in the downtown area. Helping small businesses in retail, fashion and food services the BID has leveraged the power of live streaming on Facebook to increase customer traffic and sales for West Chester Bureau businesses.
“This is a great idea that worked out so well… we are helping small businesses get their word out in a quality fashion” says Malcolm Johnstone, the West Chester BID Executive Director. Johnstone worked with a local live streaming group called the StreamGeeks, who host a weekly live broadcast from their downtown West Chester location on Market street. The team put together professional live streams for the Old Soul Decor, Tesoro and the Split Rail Tavern over the past few months working with the West Chester BID. “We are so happy to see our local Business Improvement District supporting small business on social media.” says Paul Richards, Chief Streaming Officer for the StreamGeeks. “I didn’t realize that Malcolm was so well versed in Facebook, audience engagement and social media marketing in general,” says Richards.
“It’s such a beautiful system and we are ahead of the curve in our partnership (with the StreamGeeks).” says Johnstone. “People like Brit (Tesoro Owner) are going to benefit from this high-quality video marketing for a long time” says Richards. “Once the live stream is over it becomes a core piece of content business owners are able to pin to the top of their business Facebook pages and use for years to come.”
